SALEM: In a shocking domestic violence incident, the Ammapet police in Salem arrested a 40-year-old woman on Thursday on charges of murdering her husband. The victim has been identified as V Thangam, 40, a resident of Seikizhar Street in Ammapet.

Background of the Tragic Incident

According to police reports, the couple, who had three children, frequently argued due to Thangam's habit of returning home drunk. On Wednesday night, Thangam came back intoxicated and initiated a quarrel with his wife, Padma.

"He assaulted her before falling asleep," stated Ammapet police inspector Muruga Raja, detailing the events leading up to the crime.

Details of the Fatal Attack

While Thangam was sleeping, Padma allegedly struck him on the head with a heavy grinding stone, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. The police have registered a case under relevant sections and taken Padma into custody for further investigation.
