Samastipur Police Apprehends Key Suspect in Teacher's Murder Case

In a significant breakthrough, the Samastipur police on Wednesday arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the murder of a teacher, Ganesh Sahni (30), who was shot dead in the Tajpur police station area on February 8. The accused, identified as Ankit Kumar, was apprehended along with the motorcycle used in the commission of the crime. The primary motive behind the murder has been traced to a dispute over land deals, according to police officials.

Details of the Victim and the Arrested Accused

The victim, Ganesh Sahni, was a private school owner who was also actively involved in property dealings, as confirmed by the police. The arrested individual, Ankit Kumar, is a resident of Dadanpur village in the Halai police station area. Ganesh Sahni was fatally shot near the Darjaniya bridge by six motorcycle-borne miscreants, marking a violent end to his life.

Background of the Land Deal Dispute

Sadar ASP Sanjay Pandey provided insights into the case, stating, "Sahni, along with running a private education institution, was also involved in the property dealing business. For this, he formed a team which included Surendra Sahni, Phulendra Sahni, Raju Sahni, along with Ankit Kumar, Rajeev and Randhir Ram." After a dispute emerged among Ganesh, Phulendra Sahni, and Raju, Ganesh decided to form a separate group and continue the business independently.

Meanwhile, Phulendra Sahni was incarcerated in a separate dispute case. Ankit Kumar and Randhir Ram received information that Ganesh was planning to eliminate them while they were en route to a court hearing. In retaliation, Ankit conspired with his group members and orchestrated the murder.

Execution of the Crime and Police Investigation

On the day of the incident, Randhir and Rajeev provided crucial information to Ankit regarding Ganesh's movements, facilitating the attack. ASP Pandey further revealed, "An attempt was made to kill Ganesh a few days back as well. Ankit confessed to the killing during interrogation. Based on his statement, the bike used in the murder was recovered. Information was also obtained about where the weapon was procured from. The weapon will also be recovered soon."

The police are currently examining CCTV cameras installed on routes near the crime scene to gather additional evidence. Raids are being conducted to apprehend other absconding criminals involved in this case. The arrested suspect, Ankit Kumar, is now being sent to jail as the investigation progresses.
