Sanitation Worker Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances in Kanpur College Hostel
A tragic incident unfolded on Friday afternoon at Maharana Pratap Ayurvedic Medical College in Ishwari Ganj, Bithoor, Kanpur, where the body of a sanitation worker was discovered hanging under suspicious circumstances inside a boys' hostel room.
Discovery of the Deceased
The deceased has been identified as Hrithik, a 24-year-old resident of Mau Gura in Auraiya district. He was employed as a sanitation worker at the Maharana Pratap Ayurvedic Medical College. According to reports, when Hrithik did not return from his duties, his supervisor, Shantanu Singh, grew concerned and went to check on him at his hostel room.
Upon arrival, they found the room locked from the inside. Unable to gain entry through the door, they broke the window of an adjacent room to access the space. Inside, they discovered Hrithik's body lying on the bed with a broken rope tied around his neck. The other half of the rope was found attached to the ceiling fan hook, indicating a possible hanging.
Police Investigation and Family Notification
Bithoor police station in-charge Ashok Kumar Saroj confirmed that the family of the deceased has been notified about the incident. The police are treating the case with caution, awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death and the circumstances surrounding it.
Ashok Kumar Saroj stated, "We have informed the family, and further action will be taken based on the findings from the postmortem examination. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain whether this was a case of suicide or if foul play is involved."
