In a shocking development in Satna, police have arrested the accused in the brutal murder of an 11-year-old boy, whose body was discovered stuffed inside a plastic drum. The crime, which occurred on Monday, is believed to be driven by the accused's one-sided obsession with the child's mother.
Arrest and Manhunt Details
The accused, identified as Mathura Rajak, aged 45, was apprehended on Tuesday after a widespread manhunt by multiple police teams. Rajak had been on the run since allegedly committing the murder and concealing the body in a blue plastic drum at the family's rented residence near Siddharth Nagar. Investigators confirmed that Rajak was known to the family and had maintained contact with them for some time.
Discovery of the Crime Scene
The incident unfolded on Monday morning when the Class V student was home alone. His mother, who works as a domestic help, returned around 12:30 pm to find the house locked from the outside. The boy was missing, with his shoes found near the door, raising immediate suspicion. After an unsuccessful search, the family reported him missing at Kolgawan Police Station.
Upon arrival, police broke open the lock in the presence of family members. Inside, they encountered a gruesome scene: blood splattered on the walls, a bloodstained pillow, and a sickle, indicating a violent assault. A blue plastic drum in the room showed blood marks on its exterior. When opened, officers discovered the boy's body inside, with his throat slit, suggesting the sickle was used as the weapon and the drum was employed to hide evidence.
Investigation and Motive
A forensic team later examined the scene, collecting crucial evidence, including the suspected weapon and other materials. During the probe, suspicion quickly centered on Rajak, who had allegedly been pressuring the boy's mother to marry him. Police revealed that Rajak had previously threatened her, and his advances were rejected, pointing to a motive rooted in obsession and resentment.
Investigators believe Rajak entered the house while the child was alone, carried out the murder, and then attempted to cover up the crime by hiding the body in the drum, placing clothes over it, locking the house, and fleeing the scene.
