Koraput: A tragic incident occurred at Ambadala railway station in Rayagada district on Monday when a State Bank of India (SBI) employee lost his life after slipping while attempting to disembark from a moving train. The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Sabat, a 35-year-old employee of the SBI branch in Lanjigarh, according to police reports.
How the Incident Unfolded
According to sources, Sabat was traveling to Ambadala aboard the Bhubaneswar–Junagarh Express. During the journey, he fell asleep and only woke up as the train was already departing from Ambadala station. In a desperate attempt to get off the moving train, he lost his footing and fell onto the platform, sustaining critical injuries.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel promptly rescued him and rushed him to the local Ambadala hospital. However, his condition rapidly deteriorated. Medical staff advised that he be transferred to Bhawanipatna for advanced care. Tragically, Sabat died while being shifted to the hospital in Bhawanipatna.

Police have confirmed the details of the accident and are conducting further inquiries. The incident highlights the dangers of attempting to board or alight from moving trains, a practice that often leads to severe injuries or fatalities.
