School Scuffle Escalates into Blade Attack Outside Police Station in Jalandhar

A minor altercation among Class XI students at NC Model School in the Jalandhar Cantonment area has taken a dangerous turn, escalating into a violent incident outside the police station gate. According to authorities, the brother of one of the students allegedly attacked a rival with a blade, leading to serious injuries and legal action.

Background of the Initial Clash

The incident traces back to an earlier clash on February 25, where students from the school were involved in a physical altercation. One student sustained injuries during this initial scuffle, prompting the police to obtain a medico-legal report. In response, law enforcement called both parties to the Jalandhar Cantt police station to address the matter and prevent further escalation.

Violent Escalation at the Police Station

However, tensions flared unexpectedly near the police station's outer gate. An altercation erupted between the two parties, quickly devolving into a physical fight. During this confrontation, a boy was attacked on the neck with a sharp-edged object, identified as a blade. The injured student was immediately admitted to the civil hospital by his family for urgent medical treatment.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Sarawnjit Singh provided details on the incident. He stated that all individuals involved in the earlier clash were minors, but the situation worsened when the brother of the injured student intervened. This 21-year-old youth allegedly used a blade to attack the rival student, turning a school dispute into a criminal act.

Legal Actions and Arrest

In response to the blade attack, the police have taken swift legal action. A case has been registered under sections 118(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to assault and causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons. The 21-year-old attacker has been arrested and is currently in custody as investigations continue.

This incident highlights concerns over youth violence and the need for effective conflict resolution in educational settings. Authorities are urging parents and school administrators to monitor student behavior closely and promote peaceful dialogue to prevent such dangerous escalations in the future.
