A 24-year-old man, Ansh Pratap Singh, has been arrested for allegedly hitting a scooter rider with his Mercedes car in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri area, resulting in the rider's death. The incident occurred on Sunday near the foot overbridge at the Jahangirpuri bus stand on the Outer Ring Road.

Accident and Response

According to the police, the scooter rider, identified as Deepak, a resident of Mangolpuri, was critically injured in the collision. Upon receiving information about the mishap, police personnel rushed to the spot and found Deepak in a critical condition. He was immediately taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Investigation and Arrest

The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. However, a caller provided the police with details of the Mercedes car, which led them to trace the vehicle bearing a Haryana registration number. A notice was served on the registered owner under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act, which requires the owner to disclose the driver's identity. The inquiry revealed that Ansh Pratap Singh was driving the car at the time of the accident. A case was registered, and the accused was subsequently arrested.
