Security Forces Destroy Militant Hideout in Baramulla, Recover War-Like Stores
Security Forces Destroy Militant Hideout in J&K's Baramulla

In a significant blow to militant activities in the region, a joint team of Indian security forces successfully located and destroyed a militant hideout in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, based on specific intelligence, led to the recovery of a substantial cache of war-like stores intended for disruptive activities.

Intelligence-Led Joint Operation in Khawaja Pathri

The operation was launched on Tuesday, April 29, 2024, in the Khawaja Pathri area of the Kreeri sector in Baramulla. Acting on precise intelligence inputs regarding the presence of a hidden militant cache, a coordinated force was assembled. This joint team comprised personnel from the Indian Army's 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Their combined efforts focused on a targeted search of the identified area. The meticulous search yielded success when the forces discovered a concealed hideout. This hideout was not occupied by militants at the time but contained materials critical for sustaining militant operations in the volatile region.

Cache of War-Like Stores Recovered

Upon destruction of the hideout, security personnel recovered a notable haul of military-grade equipment and supplies. The recovered items underscore the intent to support armed activities. The seized war-like stores included:

  • One UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher)
  • Four UBGL grenades
  • One hand grenade
  • One magazine
  • 389 rounds of ammunition of various calibers
  • Other associated materials

The recovery of a UBGL, a weapon that can be mounted on rifles to launch grenades, is particularly significant, indicating the potential for heightened threat levels. All the recovered materials have been taken into custody by the security forces for further investigation and analysis.

Ongoing Vigilance and Area Domination

Following the successful operation, security forces have intensified search and surveillance activities in the surrounding areas of Kreeri and Khawaja Pathri. The primary objectives of this continued vigilance are twofold: to ensure no residual threat remains and to deter any attempts by militant elements to re-establish a foothold in the area.

This operation highlights the proactive and intelligence-driven approach of the security apparatus in Jammu and Kashmir. By disrupting the logistical supply chain of militants and destroying their hidden infrastructure, such operations aim to degrade their operational capabilities and enhance security for local residents.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is underway to trace the origins of the recovered stores and identify the networks involved in storing them. Security officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining relentless pressure on anti-national elements to preserve peace and stability in the Union Territory.
