Jaisalmer: A Barmer man has approached the district Superintendent of Police after his motorcycle, which was seized by police and kept at Sadar police station, went missing from the station premises.
Incident Details
In a memorandum submitted on Wednesday, Dinesh stated that he went to Sadar police station to collect his bike after paying a Rs 500 fine in court. However, after waiting for hours, he was informed that the vehicle was not there.
He said he made repeated visits to Kotwali and Sadar police stations and later approached senior officials seeking help.
Police Response
Kotwali SHO Manoj Kumar said the motorcycle was seized on April 19 after two youths were caught riding it in an inebriated condition. The vehicle was parked at Sadar police station under the Motor Vehicles Act.
After the accused were granted bail by the SDM court, the owner came to retrieve the bike as per court orders, Kumar said. "However, when a constable was sent to fetch it, the vehicle was found missing."
Investigation Underway
CCTV footage indicated the motorcycle was stolen from the police station premises between April 19 and April 23.
An FIR was registered at Kotwali police station on April 26 on a complaint by ASI Shriram of Sadar police station. Police said efforts are on to identify the accused and recover the vehicle.
