A devastating road accident at the Keesara toll plaza in Kanchikacherla mandal of NTR district resulted in the tragic death of B Srinivasa Rao, a distinguished senior advocate from Hyderabad, on Saturday. The fatal incident occurred when a massive fly ash tanker lost control and overturned directly onto his car, causing catastrophic damage.
Details of the Catastrophic Collision
According to police reports, the accident unfolded when the brakes of a 16-wheeled tanker reportedly failed while the vehicle was traveling towards Hyderabad. The driver lost control of the heavy vehicle near the toll plaza, causing it to topple onto a BMW car that was passing through the same stretch at that moment.
The impact was so severe that the BMW was completely flattened under the enormous weight of the overturned tanker. Srinivasa Rao, a resident of Yellareddyguda in Hyderabad, was traveling alone in the vehicle with registration number TS 09 NT 6662 at the time of the accident.
Challenging Rescue Operation and Official Response
Officials confirmed that the body was mangled due to the extreme intensity of the crash. Rescue teams faced significant challenges in retrieving the body from the wreckage, as the massive tanker had to be lifted using cranes and earth-moving machines. The complex operation took considerable time before the wreckage could be cleared from the accident site.
Vijayawada police commissioner S V Rajasekhara Babu rushed to the spot and personally supervised the rescue efforts. He confirmed that only one person was in the car at the time of the accident and that the tragedy was caused by the tanker driver's loss of control.

State Bar Council president Vasireddy Prabhunath visited the accident site and expressed deep grief over the advocate's untimely death, describing it as a tragic loss for the legal community. Colleagues remembered Srinivasa Rao as a lawyer who rose from student activism and was widely respected for his unwavering commitment to public issues and justice.
Police have registered a case and are thoroughly investigating the circumstances that led to this fatal accident. The investigation will examine all factors, including vehicle maintenance, road conditions, and driver actions that may have contributed to this devastating incident.
