Senior Doctor Dies by Apparent Suicide at Sitapur Residence
A 69-year-old medical practitioner, Dr. Rajendra Chaudhary, died on Friday afternoon in what appears to be a suicide at his residence in the Civil Lines area of Sitapur district. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with neighbors and authorities struggling to comprehend the tragic event.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy
According to police reports, Dr. Chaudhary had lunch around 1:00 PM before retreating to his first-floor bedroom. His wife, Shakti Chaudhary (65), who was downstairs at the time, heard a gunshot and immediately rushed upstairs. She discovered her husband lying face down on the bed in a pool of blood, with a bullet wound through his temple.
The weapon used was a licensed revolver belonging to the doctor. Police officials promptly seized the firearm and collected crucial evidence from the scene. Assistant Superintendent of Police for Sitapur, Vinayak Bhosale, confirmed that the exact reason behind this extreme step remains undetermined and under investigation.
Family Circumstances and Immediate Aftermath
The couple's two sons were not present at the time of the incident. One son serves as a doctor in the Air Force stationed in Kharagpur, while the other is pursuing an LLB degree in Lucknow. Mrs. Chaudhary was reported to be in deep shock following the discovery and was unable to provide a formal statement to authorities.
Dr. Chaudhary operated a clinic in Khairabad and was well-known in the area for his medical practice. The sudden nature of his death has left both family and community members grappling with unanswered questions.
Community Reaction and Personal Character
Neighbors expressed profound disbelief at the news, describing Dr. Chaudhary as consistently cheerful and seemingly stress-free. "He was always smiling and never appeared worried about the future. It is incredibly difficult to believe he could take such a drastic step," remarked Ramesh Verma, a neighbor.
Another resident, Anil Kumar, highlighted the doctor's active involvement in social causes. "He regularly supported people in need, whether through medical assistance or financial help. His commitment to community welfare was well-recognized," Kumar stated.
The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the circumstances that led to this tragic outcome, while the community mourns the loss of a respected medical professional and social benefactor.
