Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Chander Mohan stated on Monday that allegations of sexual assault at the Ladwa police station were found to be false following a thorough investigation.
Complainant's Claims and Initial Response
A person claiming to be a bone cancer patient alleged he was beaten and sexually assaulted at the Ladwa police station on the night of June 17. Given the seriousness of the allegations, an FIR was registered, the concerned policemen were suspended, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the DSP Ladwa.
SP Mohan told media, “Since the allegations were serious and the matter was sensitive, an FIR was registered, the policemen were suspended and an SIT was constituted under the DSP Ladwa.”
Investigation Findings
The detailed investigation revealed that the complainant was in an inebriated condition when he had arguments with policemen at a checkpoint and was subsequently detained. He remained in the lockup throughout the night except for a period of 10 minutes and was under constant CCTV surveillance. The SP added that he was beaten for using abusive language while intoxicated in the lockup.
Regarding the complainant's claim of being a bone cancer patient, the investigation found that he was not a cancer patient. A medical examination conducted by a board of doctors, along with DNA testing, confirmed that the complainant was not sexually assaulted. Lie detection tests of the policemen also indicated they had not sexually assaulted the person. The complainant refused to undergo a lie detection test.
The SP explained, “The bleeding was because of chronic anal fissures. He also had a hip replacement surgery, which was the cause of his pain.”
Action Against Those Who Guided the Complainant
SP Mohan noted that some individuals guided the person to make false allegations. He stated, “Since the person was beaten up, he went on to make serious allegations against the policemen. It has also been observed that some people guided the person to make false allegations and appropriate action will be taken against them.”
