SHO Jyoti Nayak Fatally Injured in Early Morning Collision in Sriganganagar
A tragic accident in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, has claimed the life of a dedicated police officer. Station House Officer (SHO) Jyoti Nayak was killed in the early hours of Wednesday after a speeding car violently rammed into the police jeep she was travelling in, causing the vehicle to overturn in a severe collision.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The crash occurred around 4 a.m. at the intersection on Payal Theatre Road. According to Sriganganagar SP Amrita Duhan, SHO Jyoti Nayak, who was in charge of the district's women's police station, was on duty with her team in the police jeep when the accident happened. Police reports indicate that a speeding car hit the jeep with tremendous force, flipping it onto its side. The car involved in the crash came to a stop a few metres ahead after the impact.
Injuries and Aftermath
Jyoti Nayak sustained critical head injuries in the collision and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. In addition to Nayak, another police officer in the jeep suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. The driver of the car also sustained injuries and is under medical care. Senior officers, including SP Amrita Duhan, promptly reached the accident site and the hospital to oversee the situation.
Tributes and State Honors
Later in the day, Jyoti Nayak was cremated with full state honors, reflecting her service and dedication. Colleagues described her as a committed officer who was actively on duty at the time of the accident, highlighting her contributions to the police force. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and law enforcement agencies, underscoring the risks faced by officers in the line of duty.
