A shopkeeper was shot dead in broad daylight in Makhu town of Ferozepur district on Wednesday, sending shockwaves through the local community. The incident occurred around 11:30 am when two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at the victim, identified as 45-year-old Rajesh Kumar, outside his electronics shop in the main market area.
Details of the Incident
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers fired multiple shots at Rajesh Kumar before fleeing the scene. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The motive behind the killing is not immediately known, but police suspect a personal enmity or business rivalry could be the reason.
Police Investigation Underway
Senior police officials, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Makhu, reached the spot and launched an investigation. Forensic teams were called in to collect evidence, and CCTV footage from nearby shops is being examined. Police have also registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are searching for the suspects.
