Shopping App Employee Fatally Shot by Cousin in Khagaria Village Over Alleged Money Dispute
In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old employee of a shopping application was brutally shot dead by his cousin in Chhoti Lagar village, located under the Parbatta block of Khagaria district in Bihar. The tragic event unfolded on Friday night, stemming from an alleged long-standing financial disagreement between the two relatives.
Details of the Fatal Attack
The victim, identified as Brijesh Kumar Yadav, was standing near his residence around 10 PM, engaged in a video call. Without any prior warning or argument, the accused, Hrithik Kumar Yadav, arrived at the scene and opened fire. The first bullet struck Brijesh in the arm. As he attempted to escape, he collapsed a short distance away. The assailant then fired two additional shots at his head, resulting in immediate death at the spot.
Brijesh's mother witnessed the horrific attack and raised an alarm, but was powerless to intervene and save her son. Following the crime, the accused fled the area, leaving the family and community in distress.
Background of the Financial Dispute
Family members have pointed to an old money-related conflict as the motive behind the murder. According to Priyadarshan Kumar Sudhanshu, the victim's brother-in-law, Brijesh had taken a loan from his uncle to fund his sister's wedding and had fully repaid the amount. "He also recently made an online payment of nearly Rs 1 lakh and had proof of it. Despite this, the dispute continued. Hrithik wants Brijesh's property," he claimed, suggesting deeper issues beyond the loan repayment.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving information, Parbatta Station House Officer (SHO) Pramod Kumar arrived at the location with his team. The body was sent to Khagaria Sadar Hospital for a postmortem examination. SHO Kumar stated, "A case has been registered and a manhunt launched to nab the accused, who is absconding. Preliminary investigation suggests a personal financial dispute, but all angles are being probed. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations."
The police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend Hrithik Kumar Yadav, while continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the dispute and the violent outcome.
