Siddipet Police Launch Comprehensive Survey for Highway CCTV Installation

In a significant move to bolster public safety, the Siddipet police have initiated a detailed survey along the crucial 100-kilometre highway stretch connecting Siddipet and Karimnagar. This survey is a foundational step toward the installation of advanced CCTV cameras, aimed at dramatically improving surveillance coverage across the district.

Addressing Inadequate Surveillance and Accident-Prone Zones

Siddipet Commissioner of Police, Rashmi Perumal, highlighted the current inadequacies in CCTV coverage on this vital highway. "At present, the surveillance on this 100-km stretch is insufficient, leaving gaps in security and monitoring," she stated. The highway is notorious for several accident-prone black spots, where frequent road mishaps occur, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced measures.

To tackle these challenges, the police are collaborating with municipal authorities and leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to finance the installation of additional cameras. Alongside camera deployment, improvements in lighting and fibre connectivity are deemed essential to ensure the project's effectiveness and reliability.

Expanding Surveillance Network with Community Support

The initiative is part of a broader district-wide effort to expand CCTV coverage. Recently, local police have successfully installed 400 cameras across various villages, with plans to extend this network to key entry and exit roads. "To foster community involvement, we conducted meetings with villagers, and many elders have enthusiastically come forward to support this initiative," Perumal added.

As a result of this community engagement, around 150 more cameras are slated for installation in the near future. The police have set an ambitious goal: to bring all villages within Siddipet under comprehensive CCTV surveillance within the next six months.

Integration Through a Command Control Centre

To streamline monitoring and response, a state-of-the-art Command Control Centre (CCC) is currently under development. This centre will integrate and monitor all camera feeds from across the district, enabling real-time surveillance and quicker incident response. This integrated approach is expected to significantly enhance law enforcement capabilities and public safety in the region.

This proactive measure by the Siddipet police reflects a growing emphasis on leveraging technology for crime prevention and traffic management, setting a precedent for other districts in Telangana to follow.
