On April 9, acting on precise intelligence, the police conducted a raid near the old stage inside the RMP ground in Sitapur. During this operation, they successfully rescued Imran from captivity and apprehended five accused individuals at the scene.

During interrogation, as revealed by Circle Officer Vinayak Bhosale to TOI, the accused confessed to kidnapping Imran from Lucknow and transporting him to Sitapur in a car. To prevent any escape attempts, they had tied his hands and legs, holding him captive under duress.

The gang had demanded a ransom of Rs5 lakh from the victim's family for his safe release, stated the officer. Police investigations further confirmed that the vehicle used in the crime was registered in the name of accused Mohit Mishra's father, adding a crucial piece of evidence to the case.
