Six Minors Apprehended for Fatal Stabbing of 19-Year-Old in Outer Delhi

In a shocking incident in outer Delhi, police have apprehended six minors for allegedly stabbing a 19-year-old youth to death in the Samaypur Badli area. The tragic event, which occurred on April 14, has sent ripples through the local community and raised serious concerns about juvenile crime.

Details of the Fatal Attack

The victim, identified as Rajeev, a tempo driver by profession, was rushed to Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh with a critical stab wound to his stomach. Despite immediate medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The Samaypur Badli police station received information about the stabbing of this local resident at approximately 7:44 PM on April 14.

According to police investigations, the attack stemmed from a heated spat that occurred the previous day, on April 13. One of the minors was involved in an altercation with Rajeev, with other boys also participating in the confrontation. The dispute reportedly originated from a neighborhood issue concerning standing in a lane, with both sides being distant relatives.

Police Investigation and Apprehension

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer north) Hareshwar Swami stated that CCTV footage from nearby areas was meticulously analyzed, and manual efforts were deployed, leading to the successful identification and apprehension of all six juveniles involved. The accused, aged between 14 and 16 years, now face serious charges.

A case has been officially registered under Sections 103 (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) at the Samaypur Badli police station. Police revealed that the fatal wound was allegedly inflicted by a 15-year-old minor, who harbored a deep-seated grudge against Rajeev.

Root Cause of the Violence

The investigation uncovered that the 15-year-old minor was motivated by an incident where Rajeev allegedly made derogatory remarks and gestures towards the minor's grandmother during the initial spat on April 13. This confrontation, which also involved the minor's grandmother and Rajeev's father, was not reported to the police at the time, allowing tensions to fester.

"It was an argument that escalated, but it was not reported to police at that time," a police officer explained, highlighting how a seemingly minor neighborhood dispute tragically spiraled out of control. The group of boys returned to Rajeev's street around 7:30 PM on April 14, confronted him, and allegedly stabbed him with a knife, turning the altercation into a deadly assault.

This case underscores the critical importance of addressing conflicts promptly and the severe consequences when disputes among youth escalate into violence. The police continue their investigation as the community grapples with this tragic loss of life.
