Six Rajasthan Men Apprehended for Failed Armed Robbery at Tamil Nadu Jewellery Store
In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement authorities in Tamil Nadu have successfully arrested six individuals hailing from Rajasthan in connection with a brazen armed robbery attempt at a jewellery establishment located in Madharpakkam, near Gummidipoondi. The incident, which unfolded on April 9, was previously reported in local media outlets, and the subsequent police operation culminated in the arrests near Urapakkam on Sunday.
Details of the Foiled Robbery Attempt
According to official police statements, the criminal gang orchestrated a meticulously planned operation targeting a jewellery shop operated by a man named Ramesh. In a startling twist, four of the accused individuals were reportedly disguised in burqas, a tactic employed to conceal their identities and evade detection. The group arrived at the scene in a vehicle, with one member entering the premises under the guise of a customer.
Once inside, the suspect brandished a firearm, threatening Ramesh and his employees while demanding gold jewellery and cash. However, the shop owner demonstrated remarkable courage by resisting the assailants and raising an alarm. In response, the accused escalated the violence, attacking Ramesh with an iron rod and forcibly pushing him through the glass door of the store, causing him to fall onto the road.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The commotion and Ramesh's cries for help attracted the attention of bystanders, prompting the gang to abandon their robbery bid and flee the location in their vehicle. Following a formal complaint, the Pathirivedu police station registered a case and immediately constituted five special teams dedicated to tracking down the suspects.
Acting on actionable intelligence and leads, the police teams meticulously traced the movements of the suspects, leading to the apprehension of all six men near Urapakkam. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the group deliberately planned the robbery by utilizing disguises and specifically targeting jewellery shops, indicating a premeditated criminal strategy.

The arrested suspects have been detained for intensive questioning at the Pathirivedu police station. Tiruvallur Superintendent of Police Vivekananda Shukla is personally overseeing the investigation, along with the dedicated police teams.
