In a swift response to a daylight robbery, Chandigarh police have arrested a 25-year-old man accused of snatching gold earrings from an elderly woman in the Manimajra area. The crime occurred around 1 pm near the Housing Board light point, close to Shani Mandir in Manimajra. The victim, identified as Pammi, a resident of Morigate, was returning home with her son, Mangat Ram, when the accused, Nikku Dubey of Mauli Jagran, allegedly approached from behind and forcibly snatched her earrings.
Immediate action by the victim's family proved crucial. Pammi raised an alarm upon the theft, prompting her son to pursue the fleeing suspect. In a display of quick thinking and bravery, Mangat Ram managed to catch Dubey after a brief chase, holding him until police arrived at the scene.
Arrest and Judicial Proceedings
Following the apprehension, law enforcement officials took Nikku Dubey into custody. The stolen gold earrings were successfully recovered from the suspect, providing material evidence for the case. Authorities have confirmed that Dubey was produced before a local court, which subsequently ordered his remand to 14 days of judicial custody as investigations continue.
