A 27-year-old software engineer was discovered dead in the swimming pool of a farmhouse during a team outing in Koyyalagudem, Choutuppal, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district on Saturday night. Police have registered a murder case based on a complaint from the victim's father, but authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Incident Details
According to Choutuppal Inspector N Manmadha Rao, the deceased, Gandla Ramu, a native of Mancherial, had joined approximately 20 colleagues and their team leader at the farmhouse for a party. During the gathering, the group consumed alcohol, and Ramu allegedly had a brief altercation with one of the employees.
Around 1 am, Ramu was found lying in the swimming pool. His colleagues rushed to assist and attempted CPR, but he could not be revived. He was taken to a nearby government hospital in Choutuppal, where he was declared brought dead. Police were informed of the death around 2 am by hospital staff.
Family Allegations and Police Investigation
Ramu's father, G Anjaiah, filed a complaint on Sunday morning, alleging that his son was hit with a stick following the altercation. The inspector stated, "We have registered a murder case accordingly. We have not yet identified a suspect. There were 20 people at the party, all drunk."
Police have recovered Ramu's ID card and mobile phone. No other items were seized. Authorities are questioning those who attended the party to establish the sequence of events leading up to Ramu entering the pool. Additionally, police will seek details from the excise department regarding the consumption of alcohol at the farmhouse.
