Tragic End to Family Feud in Haryana Village
A bitter property dispute in a Haryana village culminated in a horrific tragedy on Sunday night, resulting in the alleged murder of a 65-year-old man by his own son. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, occurred in Ahmedpur Darewala village near Hisar.
Violent Confrontation Over Ancestral Land
According to police authorities, the victim, Jaswant Singh, was returning home around 10:30 PM after irrigating his fields when his 35-year-old son, Ram Singh, intercepted him near their residence. What began as a heated argument over the distribution of family land quickly escalated into a violent confrontation with fatal consequences.
During the dispute, Ram Singh allegedly crashed a jeep into his father. When Jaswant Singh attempted to stand up after the impact, his son reportedly struck him in the head with a sharp-edged weapon, believed to be a blade. The brutal attack left the elderly man bleeding in the street for nearly two hours before he was discovered by a passing police patrol.
Property Dispute at the Heart of the Tragedy
Preliminary police investigations reveal that the killing was the culmination of a long-standing and bitter family feud centered around ancestral property. Relatives have disclosed that Ram Singh had been managing land belonging to his widowed sister, who continues to reside at the family home. He allegedly sold portions of this property and withheld the proceeds from the rightful owners.
The tensions within the family were further exacerbated when Ram Singh recently sold off his younger brother's land without obtaining proper consent. This unauthorized transaction reportedly created additional conflict between the suspect and his father, ultimately leading to the fatal confrontation.
Police Response and Investigation
Police immediately moved the critically injured Jaswant Singh to a nearby government hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Authorities have registered a murder case against Ram Singh, who remains on the run following the incident.
"Efforts are on to arrest the accused," stated a police spokesperson on Monday. "We have seized the getaway vehicle used in the crime, and the victim's body has been sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death."
The tragic case highlights how property disputes within families can sometimes escalate to extreme violence, with devastating consequences for all involved. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of Jaswant Singh while authorities work to bring his alleged killer to justice.
