Son Arrested in Etawah for Allegedly Murdering Father and Setting Body on Fire
In a shocking incident in Etawah, a man has been arrested for allegedly killing his father and attempting to disguise the murder as an accident by setting the body on fire. The case has sent ripples through the local community, highlighting severe family conflicts.
Discovery of the Charred Body
The charred body of Munna Lal, a 78-year-old resident, was discovered on January 27 in a tubewell room located in a field in Niloi village, under the jurisdiction of the Jaswantnagar police station in Etawah. Initially, the scene appeared to be an accidental fire, but police investigations quickly revealed a more sinister truth.
Police Investigation Unravels the Crime
During the investigation, it was uncovered that Munna Lal's son, Gajraj Singh, was responsible for the murder. Gajraj had initially filed a police case against unidentified individuals, claiming he found his father's body after seeing smoke emanating from the room. He described the lower part of the body as completely burnt, with a bloodstained stick and bloodstains found at the location, which raised suspicions.
Further probing by the police exposed Gajraj's motives. He was unemployed, struggled with alcoholism, and had accumulated significant debts. In an attempt to settle his financial obligations, Gajraj tried to sell his father's land, but Munna Lal refused, leading to frequent arguments between them.
Confession and Details of the Murder
During interrogation, Gajraj confessed to the crime. He admitted that on the night of January 26-27, he attacked his father with a stick, resulting in his death. To cover up the murder, Gajraj placed the body on a bed, covered it with a sack and quilt, and set it on fire to make it look like an accidental blaze.
Arrest and Legal Actions
SSP Brijesh Kumar Srivastava confirmed that police arrested Gajraj Singh from Niloi village on Wednesday. A case has been registered against him, including charges of murder and other relevant sections. He has been sent to jail as the investigation continues, with authorities ensuring a thorough legal process.
This tragic event underscores the devastating impacts of personal crises and family disputes, serving as a grim reminder of the consequences when conflicts escalate to violence.
