Sitapur Horror: Son Allegedly Kills Mother with Brick Over Drinking Argument

In a shocking and tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through Unchakhera Kalan village in Sitapur district, a 35-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned his mother to death with a brick following a violent argument over his drinking habit. The horrific event occurred on Friday, resulting in the immediate arrest of the accused from the family home.

Violent Confrontation Over Alcohol Addiction

The victim, identified as 65-year-old Malti, was at home when her son, Harishankar, reportedly began arguing with her after she objected to his excessive drinking. What started as a verbal spat quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. In a fit of uncontrollable rage, Harishankar allegedly picked up a brick and repeatedly struck his mother on the head, causing severe bleeding that led to her death on the spot.

Villagers Rush to Scene, Police Informed

Hearing Malti's desperate screams, concerned villagers rushed to the house. However, by the time they arrived, the accused had already locked himself inside a room. The villagers promptly informed the local police, who arrived at the scene and took Harishankar into custody.

History of Addiction and Family Strife

According to villagers, Harishankar had a long-standing addiction to alcohol and frequently quarreled with his mother about his destructive habit. Disturbingly, neighbors revealed that Malti had previously expressed fears to them that her son might harm her someday, though she never filed an official police complaint.

The family's troubles extended beyond this tragic incident. Harishankar is married, but his wife, Seema, left him several years ago due to his violent behavior and alcohol addiction. She currently resides in Lucknow with their four children, struggling to support them independently.

Financial Strain and Suspicious Family History

Seema disclosed that Harishankar had sold most of the household belongings to sustain his drinking habit. The family owns barely 5 biswa of agricultural land, which forced her to move to the city to find work and support their children. Villagers also recalled that Harishankar's father, Mathura Prasad, died around five years ago under suspicious circumstances, adding another layer of tragedy to the family's history.

Police Investigation Underway

Additional Superintendent of Police (South) Durgesh Singh visited the crime scene to review the investigation. Kamalapur Station House Officer Itul Chaudhary confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under relevant sections of murder. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into all aspects of the case, including the accused's history and the circumstances leading to the fatal attack.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the devastating consequences of alcohol addiction and domestic violence in rural communities, raising serious questions about intervention and support systems for families in crisis.
