A man bludgeoned and stabbed three neighbours to death late Saturday night in Sonipat, following a dispute reportedly linked to an illicit relationship, triggering shockwaves through the area. The gruesome killings took place in TDI City in Kundli on the outskirts of Sonipat.
Police identified the victims as 50-year-old Vijay, his 47-year-old wife Sunita, and a neighbour, 32-year-old Swati, a married woman. The accused, Brahm Prakash, who lived in the same society, was arrested on Monday by SHO Sethi Malik. Police suspect he was enraged with the trio for opposing his alleged affair with another resident. Residents claimed repeated confrontations had occurred earlier over the same issue.
According to locals, neighbours called Vijay's elder brother after hearing loud arguments and screams from the flat. When he arrived, he found three bodies in pools of blood inside the apartment. Police said the violence erupted around 11:30 pm when an altercation between Brahm Prakash and the victims escalated dramatically. Eyewitnesses alleged that Brahm Prakash launched a frenzied assault using an iron rod and a knife, attacking the women first before turning on Vijay. All three victims died on the spot.
ACP Rai Vipin Ahlawat said Kundli police received information through the control room regarding an assault on a man and two women in the BPL apartment society. SHO Malik rushed to the spot along with a team and forensics experts. Special teams were formed to track down the suspect, and he was nabbed by the SHO on Monday. The accused is being interrogated to ascertain the sequence of events and the motive behind the killings, Malik said.
The FSL team collected several crucial pieces of evidence from the crime scene, including a blood-stained iron rod. CCTV footage from nearby buildings is also being scanned to reconstruct the events. According to residents, Brahm Prakash is a native of Dashor Khedi village in Jhajjar district and had been living in Sonipat for some time. Sonipat police PRO Ravinder said the accused has studied only up to Class V. Residents described him as aggressive and prone to frequent altercations within the neighbourhood. Police said he was currently working as a security guard.
