In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor production, the police in Ramgarh district uncovered a spurious liquor factory operating from a house in Upper Khakhara village under the Gola police station limits. The raid led to the arrest of two individuals involved in the production of counterfeit liquor. The accused have been identified as Manoj Murmu, aged 26, and Bhadru Singh, aged 44.
Seizures and Operations
During the operation, the police seized a substantial quantity of ready-to-sell liquor of various brands, along with materials used for its preparation. The haul included duplicate caps, wrappers, and empty bottles. According to Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, the confiscated items comprised 250 cases of duplicate foreign liquor of various brands, 1,800 litres of prepared liquor stored in drums, and 1,600 litres of spirit, among other items.
Legal Action
A case has been registered at the Gola police station under relevant sections of the Bharat Nyay Sahita 2023 and Section 47(A) of the Excise Act. The police are investigating further to determine the supply chain and any other individuals involved in this illicit trade. The swift action by the authorities underscores their commitment to curbing the menace of spurious liquor in the region.
