In a significant breakthrough, Chennai police have arrested a notorious history-sheeter for the brutal murder of a 44-year-old man near the Sriperumbudur municipal office. The incident, which occurred two days prior to the arrest, sent shockwaves through the local community.

CCTV Footage Leads to Breakthrough

The investigation gained momentum when police meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the neighborhood. The electronic evidence clearly showed Rasu Kutty, a 35-year-old criminal with multiple cases including attempted murder and robbery, crossing the crime scene around the time of the incident.

Police officials revealed that the victim, Chelladurai from Mayiladuthurai, had been working at a private factory in Sriperumbudur for the past year. The 44-year-old had rented a house in the area and was apparently walking alone when the tragic encounter occurred.

Brutal Attack with Stone Weapon

According to police interrogation reports, Rasu Kutty confessed to accosting Chelladurai with the intention of snatching his mobile phone and money. When the victim resisted and overpowered the attacker, pushing him away, a violent scuffle ensued.

In a fit of rage, Kutty picked up a stone and repeatedly struck Chelladurai on the head, causing deep cuts from a sharp object. The victim fell unconscious during the attack, but the assailant continued his assault, ultimately resulting in Chelladurai's death.

After committing the murder, Kutty stole the victim's mobile phone and ₹1,000 in cash before disposing of the body near a bush and fleeing the scene.

Police Action and Arrest

Following the recovery of the body, police sent it for post-mortem examination to Sriperumbudur Government Hospital. The medical examination confirmed the violent nature of the attack.

Acting on the CCTV evidence and their investigation, police arrested Rasu Kutty on charges of murder and have remanded him in judicial custody. The accused now faces serious legal consequences for his actions.
