Student Dies Under Mysterious Circumstances at Punjabi University Hostel
A 22-year-old student was found dead in his hostel room at Punjabi University, Patiala, on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Bathinda, was pursuing a postgraduate degree in the Department of Chemistry.
According to university officials, Ravi had been staying in the hostel for the past two years. His roommate, who had gone out for a morning walk, discovered the body upon returning around 7:30 am. The door was locked from inside, and the body was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
Police were immediately informed, and a team from the Tripuri police station reached the spot. The body has been sent to Rajindra Hospital for postmortem. Preliminary investigations suggest suicide, but the police are awaiting the autopsy report to ascertain the exact cause of death.
No suicide note was found at the scene. The student's family has been informed and is expected to arrive soon. University authorities have expressed grief over the incident and assured full cooperation with the investigation.
