A major incident involving crucial student records has surfaced at SS Divine School, operated by the Swami Sahajanand Trust on Science City Road in Ahmedabad. According to an application filed by the trust, former employees linked to the previous management allegedly illegally removed key academic documents, including students' leaving certificates (LCs), original mark sheets, the school's general register, and computer equipment.
Police Investigation Initiated
Sola Police Inspector K N Bhukan confirmed that an investigation has been launched. CCTV footage reportedly shows individuals entering the school premises and taking away the documents. The trust had earlier handed over operations to the Nirman School management.
Background of the Incident
The application stated that SS Divine School was previously managed by the education administrator of Nirman School under an agreement with the original trust. However, the trust later decided to terminate the contract due to concerns over the school's functioning and reputation. A police official noted that the school had reportedly received notices during the previous administration, prompting the trust to regain control.
Investigating officials said that after the management transfer, persons linked to the former administration allegedly entered the premises and removed records related to Class 10 students. The missing documents include leaving certificates and original mark sheets, which are essential for students seeking admission to higher educational institutions.
Impact on Students
The trust claimed that nearly 200 students have been affected by the incident. The trust alleged that the act was carried out in retaliation after the former management lost control of the institution.
Trust's Response
Gunjan Shah, advisor to the SS Divine School Trust, stated, "The school was handed over on a 10-year contract in 2023. However, after complaints from the education department that the Nirman Trust, which was given the contract, was running the institution like a dummy school, the trust decided to terminate the agreement. The relevant records, including the LC book and the GR book, have been illegally taken away from the school, and an application has been filed with Sola Police. The trust will now directly run and manage the school to ensure quality education and proper administration."
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
