In a scene straight out of a thriller movie, Surat's fire department executed a dramatic rescue operation late Tuesday evening, saving a 25-year-old man who found himself in a precarious situation of his own making.
The Stuck Suspect
The incident unfolded in the upscale Pal area when neighbors heard desperate cries for help coming from the fourth floor of a residential building. Upon investigation, they discovered a young man clinging to a balcony railing, unable to move up or down.
Failed Burglary Attempt
According to police reports, the man had allegedly scaled the building with the intention of burglarizing a locked apartment. However, his plans went awry when he became trapped on the narrow balcony, finding himself unable to retreat the way he came.
Heroic Firefighters to the Rescue
The Surat Fire and Emergency Services responded immediately to the distress call. "We received information around 8:30 pm about a person stuck on the fourth-floor balcony," said a fire department official. "Our team reached within minutes and assessed the critical situation."
Using advanced rescue equipment and safety harnesses, the skilled firefighters carefully approached the terrified man. The operation required precision and calmness as the man was visibly shaken and struggling to maintain his grip.
One-Hour Ordeal Ends Safely
After nearly an hour of careful maneuvering, the rescue team successfully brought the man to safety. Medical personnel waiting at the scene immediately checked his condition. Despite his harrowing experience, he escaped with only minor injuries and exhaustion.
Police Investigation Underway
Local police have taken the rescued man into custody for questioning. Preliminary investigations suggest this was not his first attempted burglary in the area. "We are investigating his involvement in other similar cases in Pal and surrounding localities," stated a police officer from the Pal police station.
The incident has left residents of the normally quiet neighborhood shocked and concerned about security measures in their apartment complex.
