Surat: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl inside her home in the Pandesara area on Sunday morning. The police arrested Tikukumar Mali and booked him for rape under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Details of the Incident
The alleged crime occurred around 11am on Sunday when the girl’s mother had gone to the terrace to dry mango slices. Finding the child alone, Mali allegedly entered the house. According to the complaint, he threatened the girl with a knife and raped her. He also allegedly showed her a pornographic video before fleeing.
Investigation Underway
Police said Mali, who works in a textile unit in Pandesara, appears to have entered the house at random after noticing that the child was alone. Further investigation is underway. The accused has been taken into custody and will be produced before the court.
