In a significant firefighting achievement, the massive blaze that erupted at the Khajod waste disposal site in Surat has been successfully brought under control following an intense 60-hour operation. Officials from the Surat Fire and Emergency Services confirmed that the challenging incident, which began three days ago, was finally subdued through relentless efforts.
Massive Deployment of Firefighting Resources
The scale of the response was substantial, with teams mobilized from 12 different fire stations across the region. The operation involved a formidable fleet of 13 fire engines and water bowsers, supported by approximately 78 dedicated fire personnel who worked in shifts to combat the flames. Remarkably, despite the magnitude of the fire, authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported throughout the entire incident.
Unprecedented Water Usage and Community Support
Fire officials revealed that nearly 18 lakh litres of water were deployed to douse the persistent flames, highlighting the extraordinary resources required for such industrial-scale fires. The operation received crucial support from nearby establishments, including the prominent Surat Diamond Bourse and Colourtex industrial unit, among other local industries. These organizations provided additional water supplies that proved instrumental in containing the fire's spread.
