Surat Makeup Artist Alleges Blackmail, Sexual Assault by Ex-Boyfriend's Family
A single mother working as a makeup artist in Surat has come forward with harrowing allegations of blackmail, sexual assault, and financial exploitation against her former boyfriend and his family members. According to her complaint, the accused pressured her to continue their relationship even after her marriage by threatening to leak intimate photographs and harm her child.
Police Register Rape Case Following Complaint
Following her detailed complaint, the Rander police in Surat have officially registered a case of rape against both accused individuals. The 33-year-old woman, whose identity is being protected, has provided a chronological account of events spanning over a decade.
History of Relationship and Financial Transactions
The woman stated that she was initially in a relationship with Yusuf, the brother of her female friend, before her marriage in 2011. After ending the relationship, she unexpectedly encountered him again in 2013, which led to the renewal of their physical relationship.
She further alleged that during this period, she expressed interest in purchasing a flat for her family. Yusuf subsequently sold his flat to her and her husband for Rs 18 lakh and continued to reside there as a tenant, maintaining proximity to the victim.
Alleged Blackmail and Financial Exploitation
According to the complaint, in 2022, when Yusuf required money for his divorce proceedings, his sister allegedly threatened to disclose details of the past relationship to the victim's husband unless she paid a substantial amount. Under sustained psychological pressure, the woman claimed she handed over cash and jewellery worth approximately Rs 30 lakh to the accused.
Sexual Assault Allegations and Threats
The victim further alleged that when she later went to deliver Rs 2.5 lakh to Yusuf's brother, Sohail, he subjected her to harassment, forced her into a car, and raped her. During this traumatic incident, he reportedly threatened to circulate intimate material and harm her child if she resisted or reported the crime.
Separate Incident: 14-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped in Pandesara
In a separate but equally disturbing incident in Surat's Pandesara area, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old man residing in her building. Police reports indicate that the accused took the girl to the terrace when her mother and two sisters were away at work.
He allegedly took her near the water tank and raped her, subsequently threatening to kill her if she revealed anything to her family. However, a vigilant neighbor who observed the girl with the accused informed her mother. Upon inquiry, the girl broke down and disclosed the incident, leading to the filing of a formal police complaint.
Both cases highlight serious concerns about women's safety and the need for robust legal mechanisms to address such crimes in urban areas. The Surat police are investigating both incidents thoroughly, with authorities emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of such offenses.
