Surat Woman Allegedly Murders Husband After Years of Sexual Abuse, Police Investigate Role of Sex-Enhancement Pills
In a shocking case from Surat, a 39-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly poisoning and suffocating her husband after years of enduring what police describe as sexually violent behavior. The investigation has revealed that the husband's alleged abuse intensified after he began consuming sex-enhancement pills, pushing his wife to a breaking point.
Gruesome Details of the Crime Emerge
According to Limbayat police, the victim, Haider Ali (39), a native of Bihar's East Champaran district who worked as a tile-fitting labourer in Mumbai, visited his family in Surat once or twice a month. His wife, Ishrat Khatun, lived in Limbayat with their four children.
Police state that when Ali arrived in Surat on January 1, Khatun prepared turmeric milk for him, claiming it would provide warmth during the cold weather. However, she allegedly mixed insecticide into the drink. Shortly after consumption, Ali's health deteriorated rapidly, and he began vomiting repeatedly. Despite his worsening condition, he was not taken to any medical facility.
The Final Act of Violence
On the morning of January 5, when Ali was extremely weak from the poisoning, Khatun allegedly sat on his chest and strangled him with her hands. She later informed her brother-in-law, Arshad (33), that Ali was unwell. The family rushed him to SMIMER Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Dispute Over Last Rites Uncovers the Crime
The crime remained hidden until a family dispute over funeral arrangements raised suspicions. After Ali's death, Arshad wanted to transport his brother's body to their native East Champaran for last rites, but Khatun insisted on performing the cremation in Surat itself.
This argument deepened Arshad's suspicions, prompting him to approach the police. Authorities ordered a forensic post-mortem examination, which confirmed that Ali died from asphyxia caused by compression of the neck and chest.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
Following the forensic panel's findings, police registered a case against Khatun under BNS Sections 103(1) (murder) and 123 (causing hurt by poison). The couple had been married for 15 years and had four children together.
Police are conducting a detailed investigation to determine whether any other individuals were involved in the crime. They are also examining the role of sex-enhancement pills in escalating the domestic violence that allegedly preceded the murder.
This tragic case highlights the extreme consequences of prolonged domestic abuse and the complex factors that can push victims to desperate measures. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the full timeline of events leading to this fatal outcome.
