A tragic road accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday on Kisan Path in Lucknow, resulting in one fatality and injuries to seven others. The incident took place when an SUV carrying pilgrims from Mathura to Ayodhya collided with a tractor-trolley loaded with bricks.
Details of the Accident
The collision happened around 4:15 am near the Dalauna railway overbridge in Mohanlalganj. According to police reports, the SUV hit the tractor-trolley with immense force, causing the SUV to become completely mangled and trapping the driver inside the wreckage.
Rescue Operations
Police and fire brigade personnel promptly launched rescue operations. The injured occupants were extracted from the damaged vehicle and transported to the Trauma Centre of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences. Firefighters used specialized equipment and struggled for a considerable time to free the driver, identified as Sandeep. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but was declared dead by doctors.
Victims Identified
The injured individuals were identified as Subhashish Mohanty (16), Smitanjali Sahu (35), Tilavera, Tida Subodha, Basant Das, Jayantiratha, and Sai Ramrath. All are residents of Jagannath Puri in Odisha. Police stated that all eight occupants of the SUV were traveling from Mathura to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir for darshan when the accident occurred.
Traffic Disruption
The collision temporarily disrupted traffic movement on Kisan Path. Police later deployed cranes to remove the damaged vehicles and restore normal traffic flow.
