Dispute over swing in Ahmedabad society turns violent; two families clash
Swing dispute in Ahmedabad leads to violent family clash

A seemingly innocuous disagreement between children over a swing in a residential society in Shela, Ahmedabad, escalated into a violent physical confrontation involving two families on Saturday evening.

Incident Details

According to the police complaint filed with Bopal police, the trouble began when a 5-year-old girl was allegedly prevented from sitting on a swing. The girl's mother stated that she had taken her daughter to the society play area around 7 pm, where several children were already playing. After a boy got off the swing, her daughter attempted to sit on it, but the boy suddenly returned and tried to pull her off.

The complainant objected to the child's behavior, explaining that her daughter had been waiting for her turn. She later moved to another part of the play area but returned to the swings around 7:45 pm. At that time, she alleged that the boy's mother and two relatives confronted her, questioning why she had scolded their son.

Escalation to Violence

The woman claimed she tried to explain that she was merely speaking to the child and had no intention of creating a scene. However, the argument quickly escalated. According to the FIR, the boy's mother allegedly abused her publicly and began hitting her. The complainant alleged that one woman pulled her hair and slapped her, causing an injury near her nose. A male relative also joined the altercation, slapping and abusing her during the scuffle.

In the chaos, the complainant's clothes tore near the neck, and her gold chain went missing. Other residents gathered at the spot, and her husband arrived later, after which the situation calmed down. Before leaving, the trio allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she ever spoke to their son again.

Police Investigation

The complainant has submitted CCTV footage from the society to the police as part of the case. Authorities are investigating the matter further.
