South Western Railway RPF Achieves Major Success in Multiple Operations During February 2026

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South Western Railway (SWR) has recorded several key achievements across multiple operations in February 2026, demonstrating significant progress in passenger safety, child protection, and crime prevention. Based in Hubballi, the force executed various missions with notable results that highlight their commitment to railway security and public welfare.

Mission Nanhe Faristheh Reunites 51 Children with Families

Under the mission Nanhe Faristheh, the RPF successfully reunited 51 children, including 12 girls, with their families. These children had been separated from their families for various reasons, and the force's diligent efforts ensured their safe return. This initiative underscores the RPF's focus on protecting vulnerable minors and addressing issues of child separation within the railway network.

Operation Dignity and Meri Saheli Enhance Passenger Safety

Through Operation Dignity, the RPF rescued an elderly woman and handed her over to her family after due verification, showcasing their dedication to assisting senior citizens. Additionally, the Meri Saheli initiative ensured the safe travel of single and unaccompanied women passengers by sharing their seat and berth details with station teams for real-time monitoring. Feedback was collected at destination stations, and currently, 32 trains are covered under this programme, providing enhanced security for women travelers.

Crackdown on Touting and Illegal Activities

As part of Operation Uplabdh, intensive checks were conducted at travel agencies and other locations across Karnataka and Goa to crack down on touting. The RPF arrested 23 touts in 23 cases under Section 143 of the Railways Act. During these drives, officers seized 48 live tickets worth Rs 77,804 and 65 used tickets worth Rs 97,496, disrupting illegal ticket resale operations.

Seizures in Operation Satark and Operation Narco

Under Operation Satark, the RPF detected seven liquor cases, seizing 142 bottles (approximately 100 litres) valued at Rs 63,346, which were handed over to the excise department. In Operation Narco, the force detected seven cases, seized 57kg of ganja worth ₹2.7 lakh, and arrested three offenders, who were handed over to Railway Police or excise authorities for further action, highlighting their efforts in combating drug trafficking.

Recovery of Misplaced Belongings and Property Theft Cases

RPF personnel recovered passengers' misplaced belongings—such as laptops, mobile phones, jewellery, and other valuables—on 58 occasions, returning items worth Rs 44.8 lakh to their rightful owners. Furthermore, the force registered three cases of railway property theft, arrested seven offenders, and recovered stolen property worth Rs 38,458, demonstrating their effectiveness in asset recovery and crime prevention.

Daily Escorts and Recognition of Efforts

An average of 32–35 express and special trains were escorted daily by 90–95 RPF personnel, ensuring passenger safety round the clock. Additional general manager P Ananth congratulated the RPF staff for their efforts and achievements, acknowledging their hard work and dedication in maintaining railway security and public trust.
