Nashik Police Intensify Search for TCS Employee in Religious Harassment Case
A team from the Nashik crime branch traveled to Mumbra in Thane on Friday, intensifying their search for a 26-year-old female TCS employee who is accused of subjecting a co-worker to religious harassment at the workplace. The woman, originally from Nashik, had recently relocated to Mumbai after her husband secured employment with a private company in Mumbra.
Husband Detained and Questioned in Mumbra
As part of the ongoing investigation, police tracked down and detained her husband from his office in Mumbra. He was being questioned to ascertain her whereabouts and gather further details related to the case, according to officials. A police officer stated, "Her husband told investigators that a relative took her back to Nashik a couple of days ago."
SIT Expands Probe with Multiple Teams
The woman has been named as a co-accused in the first of nine cases of sexual offences and religious harassment registered by Nashik police against TCS employees. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing these cases has formed three dedicated teams to trace her. Officials revealed that she had been residing in Mumbra for the past two months, living in a rented apartment in the Amrut Nagar area since February this year.
After her transfer, she had been commuting to her office in Malad and Hiranandani. A Mumbra police officer, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed, "Her husband told investigators that a relative took her back to Nashik a couple of days ago."
Anticipatory Bail Plea Citing Pregnancy
The woman is now preparing to file an anticipatory bail plea before a Nashik sessions court, citing pregnancy as one of the grounds for relief. Her lawyer, Baba Sayyad, told TOI on Friday, "We are finalising the anticipatory bail plea and support documents in consultation with our client's father, who is in Nashik for this purpose."
Sayyad elaborated, "Going by the FIR, the case against our client is pertaining to hurting religious sentiments. It is the Constitutional right of our client to seek anticipatory bail. Our client is in her early stage of pregnancy and hence that also would be another reason that she was seeking anticipatory bail. We will be processing the plea in a couple of days with the Nashik sessions court."
The investigation continues as police work to locate the accused and gather evidence in this high-profile case of workplace harassment.
