Teacher Assaulted by Parents in Belagavi Over Harassment Allegations
Belagavi: A teacher was assaulted by parents on Tuesday within the limits of Chikodi police station following allegations of sexual harassment involving Class-10 students. The accused, Shrishail Kumbar, is employed at a government Urdu high school, where he teaches Kannada.
According to preliminary reports, he allegedly lured girl students by promising to help them pass the subject and then subjected them to harassment inside classrooms and school toilets. The matter came to light after complaints surfaced that over five students had faced similar abuse.
Outraged parents reportedly entered the school campus, confronted the teacher and physically assaulted him, leading to tense scenes on campus for some time. During the assault, the accused is said to have partially admitted to the act and apologised to the agitated parents.
Chikodi police rushed to the spot after receiving information, brought the situation under control and took the accused into custody. A detailed investigation is under way.
