Teenage Girl Gang-Raped After Eloping from Delhi to Bihar
A horrific incident of sexual violence has shaken East Champaran district in Bihar, where a 16-year-old girl who had fled from Delhi was allegedly gang-raped by two men on the night of March 14. The victim, a native of Bihar residing with her family in Delhi, had eloped with her minor boyfriend, also from Bihar, on March 12.
Lured Under False Pretenses at Railway Station
The couple arrived at Bapudham railway station late on March 13, seeking shelter. Unaware of the impending danger, they were lured into a trap by the accused, who promised to help them find a place to stay. The perpetrators took them to a secluded rented house under the guise of assistance.
At the house, the situation turned violent. The girl was sexually assaulted by both men, while her boyfriend managed to escape during the ordeal. He immediately alerted the police, leading to a swift response.
Police Raid and Rescue Operation
Acting on the boy's report, police raided the location and successfully rescued the traumatized girl. During the operation, authorities made another disturbing discovery: an abducted minor boy was found locked in a bathroom at the same premises.
Motihari Sadar-1 SDPO Dilip Kumar provided details of the crime: "The accused demanded Rs600 as rent and, on the pretext of paying the landlord, took the girl to a room where the assault occurred. Meanwhile, one accused took the boy to a distant location, assaulted him, then returned to participate in the gang rape. The boy's escape and prompt reporting enabled our intervention."
Arrests and Ongoing Manhunt
Police have arrested one accused, identified as Abbas Alam, a resident of East Champaran. However, his accomplice, Tufail Alam, managed to flee the scene. Authorities have launched extensive raids to apprehend the fugitive.
The rescued abducted boy, Udresh Kumar (16) from Gadhiya police station area in East Champaran, revealed during interrogation that he had been kidnapped by the same criminals. They had demanded a ransom of Rs1 lakh from his family.
Background of the Victims
The teenage girl is originally from Vaishali district but lives with her family in Delhi. Her boyfriend hails from Motihari and resides in the same Delhi locality. The couple had eloped intending to reach Sitamarhi, the maternal grandfather's house of the boyfriend, before their journey took them to East Champaran.
This case highlights multiple layers of vulnerability: minors fleeing home, predators exploiting their situation, and additional kidnapping crimes uncovered during the investigation. The police continue their search for the escaped accused while providing support to the victims.
