In a chilling case from Vadodara, Gujarat, a teenage girl has been detained for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her own father, who was opposed to her relationship. The Vadodara rural police have arrested two male youths, including her friend, for executing the brutal stabbing on Friday. The crime was the culmination of a three-month-long plot that saw two previous failed attempts.
A Sinister Plot Unfolds Over Months
The police revealed that the conspiracy was hatched nearly three months ago after the victim, a man in his mid-40s, strongly objected to his daughter's relationship with one of the accused. The father had previously filed a complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the youth, leading to his imprisonment. The accused was recently released on bail and re-established contact with the girl, after which they began planning to eliminate the father, whom they perceived as an "obstacle."
According to Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal, the father had become extremely strict after his older daughter had eloped. He used to lock his younger daughter and her mother in a room at night and guard the house himself to prevent any interaction with her friend.
The Failed Attempts and Final Execution
The trio's first attempt to drug the parents failed earlier this week when the girl's mother discarded the food because it tasted foul. In a second attempt, the girl screamed to confirm if the sedative had worked, which woke her mother up and forced them to abort the plan.
The plan finally succeeded on Thursday night. The girl allegedly laced the family's dinner with sedatives. After confirming her parents were unresponsive, she called her male friend around 2:30 am on Friday. He, along with an accomplice, arrived and stabbed the father to death in the backyard of their house. The police stated that the girl allegedly watched the entire gruesome act from a window of her residence.
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The crime came to light when the victim's brother informed the police. Officers reached the spot on Friday and found the body with multiple stab wounds. A murder investigation was launched based on a complaint by the family.
"Within hours, we zeroed in on the victim's daughter. The interrogation revealed the deep-seated resentment and the detailed plot," said SP Sushil Agrawal. The two male accused, both adults, were produced before a court in Vadodara on Saturday, which remanded them to police custody for two days.
The teenage girl has been detained, and the police said the Juvenile Justice Board will assess whether she should be tried as an adult in this case. The investigation is ongoing as authorities piece together the full sequence of events from the past three months.
