MADURAI: A 17-year-old boy was brutally hacked to death near the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai during the early hours of Monday, police said.

Incident Details

The victim was identified as Gubendran, 17, a resident of North Masi Street. According to police sources, the attack occurred around 4:00 am near the parking complex of the famous Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. A five-member gang allegedly attacked the boy with sharp weapons and fled the scene.

Police Response and Investigation

Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Government Rajaji Hospital for autopsy. Forensic experts arrived at the scene and collected evidence. The Vilakkuthoon Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
