In a shocking crime stemming from a personal relationship, an 18-year-old boy was brutally murdered by two of his friends, who then dumped his body in a canal in Outer North Delhi. The police have arrested both accused following an intensive investigation.
The Grisly Discovery in Munak Canal
According to the Delhi Police, the case came to light on November 22, 2025, when a PCR call alerted them about a body floating in the Munak Canal near the Haiderpur Water Treatment Plant. Upon recovery, the body was found with hands and feet tied using shoelaces. A handkerchief was around the neck, and the victim had sustained three sharp injuries to his head.
The deceased was soon identified as Ankit, a resident of Sadar Bazar. His family had reported him missing from the Gulabi Bagh area since November 18, 2025. An FIR under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at the Samaypur Badli police station.
Motive and the Chilling Sequence of Events
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami detailed the motive behind the horrific crime. The investigation revealed that the murder was driven by a personal dispute. Ashish (23), one of the accused, was enraged because the victim, Ankit, was in a relationship with Ashish's cousin sister.
"Ashish was enraged because Ankit was in a relationship with Ashish’s cousin sister and refused to end contact despite multiple warnings," stated DCP Swami.
The police outlined the sequence of the murder. The accused, Ashish and Vishal Dhilod (23), both residents of Northwest Delhi's Tikri Kalan area, called Ankit to meet them at the Tikri Kalan Metro Station. From there, they took him on a scooter to a house in Gaddha Colony.
How the Crime Was Executed
At the house, the duo drugged Ankit, tied his limbs, and then attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, leading to his death. To dispose of the evidence, they loaded his body into a mini truck. The body was then transported and thrown into the Munak Canal near the Hanuman Temple in Bawana.
Through their probe, the staff of the Samaypur Badli police station managed to track down the accused. The police have successfully recovered the murder weapon, the mini truck, and the scooter used in the commission of the crime.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Both accused, Ashish and Vishal Dhilod, have been arrested. The case highlights a grim instance of how personal disputes can escalate into extreme violence. The police continue to investigate the matter further, piecing together all evidence recovered from the scene and the accused.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local communities in Outer North Delhi, raising concerns about crime among youth and the fatal consequences of unresolved personal conflicts.
