Telangana HC Advocates Seek Local Origin Judges

The Telangana High Court Advocates' Association has urged that only practising advocates of Telangana origin be considered for elevation as judges to the High Court, adhering to social justice norms and ensuring proper representation for all sections of society.

Appeal to Collegiums

The association made this appeal to the Supreme Court and High Court collegiums on Monday during an extraordinary general body meeting (EGM) presided over by its president, S Surender Reddy, at the High Court premises. A unanimous resolution was passed to address a letter to the Chief Justice of India and organize a demonstration as a mark of protest on June 17 at the High Court premises.

Representation Submitted

The resolution further decided to submit a representation to the Chief Justice of India, collegium members of the Supreme Court, Union Minister for Law and Justice, Governor and Chief Minister of Telangana, and presidents of all political parties. The representation requests that only candidates of Telangana origin be considered for elevation as judges to the High Court.
