In a significant move to bolster security infrastructure, Telangana's Director General of Police (DGP) B Shivadhar Reddy on Monday conducted a high-level virtual review meeting. The primary agenda was to accelerate and refine security and technological preparations for the upcoming Telangana Rising Global Summit 2047, which is slated to be held at Hyderabad's Future City on December 8-9.
Ambitious Directives and Accelerated Timelines
Addressing a gathering of senior police officials, including additional DGPs, commissioners, and range officers, DGP Reddy set an ambitious tone. He urged the police force to achieve several summit-related goals a full decade ahead of their original deadlines. To translate this vision into action, Reddy issued specific directives. Officials were instructed to draft a proposal for a comprehensive Forensic Evidence Act and to organize a hackathon aimed at fostering innovation in collaboration with T-Hub, the state's technology incubator.
Roadmap for Cyber Excellence and Futuristic Policing
The meeting featured detailed presentations from top officers outlining a transformative roadmap for the state's police force. Shikha Goel, chief of the TG Cyber Security Bureau, presented a plan to elevate Telangana police to global cyber-forensic standards. Her proposals included:
- Launching an AI-driven Dial 1930 helpline specifically for financial fraud complaints.
- Expanding the network of forensic hubs across the state.
- Developing a unified 'Cyber Command & Fusion Grid' platform to seamlessly link banks, telecom companies, and fintech firms for real-time threat response.
- Establishing a dedicated child protection unit and deploying autonomous tools for hunting online fraud.
- Hosting an international forensics conclave in Hyderabad to share knowledge and best practices.
Adding a dimension of futuristic policing, Eagle Force director Sandeep Shandilya outlined plans for robotics-driven law enforcement. This vision includes setting up specialized police computer services cells and forming a dedicated police robotics organization. He also emphasized strengthening the Dial 112 emergency service to provide better support for senior citizens living alone. Furthermore, Shandilya called for round-the-clock monitoring of social media platforms, the dark web, and cryptocurrency channels to proactively prevent riots and maintain public order.
Building Public Trust Through Innovation
Concluding the review, DGP Reddy highlighted the importance of public engagement. He announced that following the summit, from December 11 to 13, the police department will host public-oriented exhibitions showcasing the latest policing technologies. These exhibitions are strategically aimed at boosting citizen confidence in law-enforcement innovations. Reddy exhorted all officers to work towards projecting the Telangana police as a truly future-ready and people-centric organization, capable of meeting the challenges of the next decades.
