Telangana police have formed 12 special teams to track down a POCSO case accused who allegedly killed six people, officials said on Sunday. The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, is suspected to have murdered the victims in a series of attacks across the state.
Manhunt Intensifies
Based on technical inputs, other clues, and details gathered so far—including from his friends and relatives—police are searching for the accused at different locations. The teams are coordinating with each other to cover all possible escape routes.
According to a senior police officer, the accused was previously booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The murders are believed to be linked to his attempts to evade arrest.
Details of the Case
The six victims include three men and three women, all found dead in separate incidents over the past week. Autopsy reports confirmed that they were killed with sharp weapons. Police have recovered a knife believed to be used in the attacks.
“We are leaving no stone unturned. The teams are using all available resources, including surveillance footage and mobile tracking,” the officer said. He added that the accused is considered armed and dangerous.
Public Appeal
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. They have also released a description of the accused: a man in his late 20s, medium build, with a scar on his left cheek.
The manhunt comes amid growing concerns over crimes against children and the effectiveness of the POCSO Act in Telangana. Rights activists have called for stricter implementation and faster trials.
