Major Bomb Cache Recovered in Telangana's Bhupalpally District

In a significant security breakthrough, police in the Bhupalpally district of Telangana have recovered a substantial cache of 5 kilograms of bombs. This discovery, made last week, underscores ongoing efforts to dismantle Naxalite networks in the region.

Explosives Defused in Karregutta Hills Based on Surrendered Maoist Intel

Security agencies, leveraging critical information from surrendered members of the Communist Party of India (Maoists), have successfully defused 70 hidden explosives in the Karregutta Hills over recent months. These anti-sabotage measures are part of a broader initiative to enhance safety for local villagers and security personnel operating in the area.

Authorities are actively gathering intelligence on previous bomb placements by Maoists, which were strategically planted to target security forces during Naxal search operations. This proactive approach has led to the sanitization of several villages in Telangana, with surrendered Naxals, particularly those from middle and lower ranks, providing invaluable assistance.

"Over the past few months, our focus has been on the Karregutta Hills, where 70 explosives and IEDs were defused. However, work is still ongoing in the Chhattisgarh area since the extent of the area and the number of explosives planted is massive," revealed official sources.

Weapon Recovery Efforts Intensify Following Senior Maoist Surrender

The surrender of Tippiri Tirupati, also known as Devji—a senior Maoist leader who gave himself up alongside three other central committee members recently—has prompted intensified efforts to recover weapons. Officials report that 200 weapons have already been seized from surrendered Naxals in Telangana, with an additional 100 still awaiting recovery.

Investigations indicate that most of the weaponry utilized by the Maoists was illicitly obtained from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) or the Chhattisgarh police. Notably, Devji and the other senior leaders reportedly surrendered their arms to Maoist party members in Chhattisgarh before proceeding unarmed to Telangana police, with plans for these weapons to be returned as part of the process.

Rehabilitation and Administrative Steps for Surrendered Naxals

In the coming days, the top Maoist leaders who have surrendered will be required to obtain Aadhaar cards and open bank accounts as part of their reintegration into society. The Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) of Telangana police, in collaboration with revenue officials, will facilitate the implementation of a tailored rehabilitation policy based on the individual needs of the surrendered Naxals.

Focus on Weaponry Over Wealth in Current Operations

With the surrender of the CPI Maoist top brass, who historically controlled the party's financial assets, the whereabouts of gold owned by active Maoists remains unknown. However, sources emphasize that, at this juncture, determining the status of such wealth is not a priority. Instead, the primary focus remains squarely on recovering weaponry to neutralize immediate threats and ensure public safety.
