Terror Suspect Murdered in High-Security Faridabad Jail Following Violent Clash
In a shocking incident at Neemka prison in Faridabad, Haryana, a terror accused was brutally stabbed to death by a fellow inmate during an early morning brawl. The victim, identified as Abdul Rehman, aged 19, was arrested last year for allegedly conspiring to carry out an explosion in Ayodhya. According to police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav, the assailant, Arun Chaudhary, attacked Rehman with a sharp-edged weapon around 2 am in Chakki No 2 of security ward 3B, located near Barrack No 3, resulting in Rehman's immediate death.
Details of the Prison Assault and Police Investigation
The Faridabad Police have registered a murder case against Arun Chaudhary at the Sadar Ballabgarh police station. Chaudhary, who was recently transferred from Kathua jail in Jammu and Kashmir to Neemka prison in October 2024, already faces multiple serious charges, including murder and attempt to murder in eight cases across Jammu and Amritsar. During the incident, a third inmate, Soeb Riaz, was present at the scene but was reportedly threatened with death by Chaudhary, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Senior police officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal clash between the two prisoners. An internal jail inquiry is also underway to assess whether the murder was connected to Rehman's legal cases or stemmed from a personal rivalry. Both Rehman and Chaudhary were housed in a high-security ward, raising questions about prison safety protocols and inmate monitoring.
Background of the Deceased Terror Accused
Abdul Rehman, a resident of Milkipur in Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad district, had been in custody since June 2025. Police investigations revealed that he was involved in a conspiracy to execute an explosion in Ayodhya, with suspicions of links to Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI. Over approximately one and a half years, Rehman had been uploading provocative videos on social media platforms, leading to his Instagram account being taken down multiple times. Investigators believe these online activities facilitated his contact with terror outfits.
Following repeated strikes on his social media accounts, Rehman came under the radar of law enforcement agencies. It was discovered that he was being instructed to travel to Ayodhya to carry out the planned explosion. In March, a joint team from the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad and the Haryana STF arrested him from Pali village near Faridabad. During the arrest, police recovered grenades and two mobile phones from a pit in Faridabad, with incriminating videos found on the devices. Rehman was also reportedly in contact with Abu Sufiyan, a terrorist associated with Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
Despite these allegations, Rehman's family maintained that he was falsely implicated, claiming he worked as an e-rickshaw driver. An FIR was registered against him in Faridabad under Section 25(1)(A) of the Arms Act and Sections 4(A), 4(B), and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908.
Profile of the Accused Inmate
Arun Chaudhary, also known as Abbu Jat, hails from village Khaur Deonian in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. He gained notoriety after the murder of Akshay Sharma, a resident of Samba. Arrested following an encounter in Punjab in 2023, Chaudhary was initially lodged in Kathua jail. His transfer to Haryana in October 2024 occurred after a controversial incident where he went live on social media from inside the jail, alleging that prison staff accepted bribes to provide him with mobile phones and other illicit facilities.
This transfer and his prior criminal record highlight ongoing challenges in prison management and inmate security. The murder incident underscores the volatile environment within high-security wards and the need for enhanced vigilance to prevent such violent outbreaks.
Police and jail authorities continue to probe the motives behind the stabbing, with updates expected as the investigation progresses.
