Thiruvananthapuram Police Conduct Major Night Security Crackdown

In a significant move to bolster public safety and curb criminal activities, the Thiruvananthapuram City Police launched an extensive late-night security operation across the capital. The coordinated crackdown, spearheaded by City Police Commissioner Karthik K, resulted in the registration of 14 cases under the NDPS Act and 50 Abkari cases, marking a substantial enforcement action against narcotics and liquor-related offences.

Comprehensive Operation Across Key Locations

The operation was meticulously executed at numerous strategic points throughout the city. Police teams conducted thorough inspections at key junctions, bus stands, railway station premises, lodges, rented houses, and labour camps. The primary objectives were to ensure public safety, prevent crimes, and maintain stringent law and order in the capital region.

Officials emphasized that these inspections are part of a broader preventive policing strategy. During the operation, police scrutinized 185 individuals listed in criminal records as anti-social elements. Those with histories of various offences and persons included in rowdy history sheets were placed under special surveillance to monitor their activities closely.

Vehicle Inspections Yield Significant Violations

Simultaneous vehicle inspections were carried out at multiple locations, leading to the checking of approximately 987 vehicles, including two-wheelers and other modes of transport. Legal action was initiated against 704 violators under the Motor Vehicles Act for a range of offences.

Among these, 94 specific cases were registered for serious violations such as drunken driving, obstructing traffic, and other traffic-related infractions. Police also questioned several suspicious persons found moving in different areas during the operation, enhancing their monitoring efforts.

Execution of Pending Warrants

In addition to the cases registered during the crackdown, police successfully executed 17 long-pending warrants and 44 other warrants issued by various courts to police stations. This action underscores the police's commitment to addressing both current and backlogged legal matters efficiently.

Strengthening Policing and Future Plans

Officials highlighted that such large-scale inspections are crucial for strengthening policing in public spaces and serving as a deterrent against criminal activities. Commissioner Karthik K announced that similar night-time inspections and security checks will continue in the coming days. This ongoing effort aims to enhance surveillance capabilities and ensure the safety and security of local residents.

The operation reflects a proactive approach by the Thiruvananthapuram City Police to maintain order and combat crime through coordinated, preventive measures.
