Three Accused Held After Encounter in Sonipat Murder Case

Sonipat: Three more accused were arrested after a police encounter in Sonipat on Saturday in connection with the murder of a youth outside Kharkhoda court earlier this month. Police said the accused, who belong to Dubaldhan village in Jhajjar district, sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire with the Sector 7 SUAG unit and were admitted to hospital under police security.

Details of the Murder

The case relates to the murder of Neeraj alias Katiya, a resident of Dubaldhan village, who was shot dead outside Kharkhoda court on May 16 after attending a hearing in a dowry-related case involving his wife. According to police, Neeraj was heading towards the bus stand at 12:15 PM when a white Toyota Brezza allegedly hit him near the tehsil gate. As he fell, armed assailants allegedly opened fire, killing him on the spot before fleeing.

Previous Arrests

Based on a complaint by the victim's brother, police had earlier arrested two accused — Sunny and Avan alias Kala. The three men who have been arrested now include Sahil alias Bhau, Sahil (son of Avan), and Sohan. The recent arrests were made possible after a police encounter in which the accused were injured.

The police continue to investigate the case, and further details are awaited. The accused are currently under medical supervision and will be produced in court once they are declared fit.
